Spinning around but making it work!

Spinning around but making it work.

My head is twirling around. I would say, spinning, but that really is about staying in one place and turning like a top. This is more like a none directional twist that moves from one item or location to the next.

First Up -

Tredici Porte, 13 Doors is a collection of short stories based on the doors we found on our two month sabbatical in Italy. I took easily hundreds of photos and was able to narrow them down to thirteen. Interestingly enough each door has a house number that indicates its place in the book. At this point I'm about a third of the way through the book, currently working on story number four.

I had an interesting thought about this one. The door is actually the entrance to a church in Bologna. My thought was to actually have a conversation in the life and two characters, only one doing the talking. So far it is a lot of fun.

Wilderness, This was kind of a remix of the water images

I asked for, about two years ago. This time it was cabins in the forest with a pond or lake close by. It begins in an open space and we watch a home, relationship, a life continue to grow before our eyes. The story begins with a writer that creates a publishing company of his own. Sound familiar? Much of the story will be bits and pieces of my own life and history. So far it is rather therapeutic. Let's hope it continues.

Submission, has been an ongoing story that is finally going to come alive. The title tells the story and the cover image drives to it even more. My characters and the situations will as real and authentic as I possibly can.

The challenges of writing and publishing have

become a little much with time becoming my greatest gift, yet total lack thereof. My goal is to finish all three books by years end.

Wish me luck.

The July issue of The Scribe Magazine holds my first short story -

After The Rain - A Short Story
It had stopped so abruptly, almost as quickly as it started.

A game of Scrabble, a glass of wine, candlelight, the sound of the wind blowing and the rain on the roof, helps to make for a wonderfully romantic night for Grant and Perry. Until the thunder crashes and then all hell breaks loose. Putting more of a strain on this home than the protective windows can take. After the rain is a short story that teeters the diversity of relationships in the gay community as well as the many challenges for any couple. It stems from a man that has a simple dream for his life and the need to find that one man to help him live it.

November 17th... Going Home.

One date connects two couples. Little did they know that it wasn't just a date. It was love, compassion and friendship that joined them together.
It's November 17, 1962, as Landon prepares to marry Elizabeth, the woman created just for him. Their life together travels many twists and turns as most couples do. Even with the strong Italian pull the couple finally makes Milford, DE their home.
It's November 17, 2009, as Henry prepares to marry Sarah, the woman he thought was created just for him. Little did he know that while on a trip to Florence, Italy, he would find himself alone, hungover and in territory very unfamiliar to him. Secrets happen, secrets are kept, secrets are exposed and no one wins.
November 17th... Going Home is a story of love, heartbreak and a reality that friendship, love, and compassion will always win over the personal crimes of a scorned woman. It has true to life characters that are building relationships, having sex, traveling and living their lives the best way they can in the face of unfortunate circumstances.
I like to write about those little stories that people have hidden away and the circumstances that change their lives, causing them to trade one reality for another. I hope that you enjoy the stories that I have found in the reaches of my mind and heart.
For every book sold - $5 will be donated to the Riverfront Theater in Milford DE. In Bob Connelly's name.
